While the 'destination store' stocks everything that Comet sells; this includes items which are only available for self-select with the exception of large and delivery items.

Comet was founded in Hull as Comet Battery Stores Limited. The owner, George Hollingberry, set it up in the 1930s and today its headquarters are located in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. The electrical retailer has selling space of approximately 275,600 square metres and employs around 10,000 people.

Comet has an Every Day Low Pricing policy which means that competitors' prices are checked and if lower prices are found, they reduce their own to match. This 'price promise' ensures that should a customer find the exact same model on sale at another retail store within 10 miles or less, then Comet matches this price on the condition that the item is brand new, sealed and packaged exactly how it was purchased. This policy is useful if you find the same item but at a lower price at another store.
